As part of my advocacy, I work with the United Nations Foundation’s Girl Up campaign as a national Teen Advisor, The Representation Project as an inaugural member of the Global Youth Advisory Council, and the Director and Founder of For Arkansas Girls, a community group that works to help young women in the Natural State. I like to engage young women in politics and civic education as the 2015-2016 American Legion Auxiliary Arkansas Girls State Governor and by working with my half-sister’s nonprofit, Women Lead Arkansas. In addition, I am also interested in promoting sustainability in our world’s oceans as an intern of SeaTrek BVI, a National Association of Underwater Instructors (NAUI) Divemaster Candidate and current Master Diver with 10+ certifications, and hopefully a future NAUI Instructor. I love oratory, debate, and forensics competitions, which allows me to lead the National Speech and Debate Association chapter at my high school. I’m also a National Merit Semifinalist, president of my school’s French Honor Society, and a professional actress at the Arkansas Repertory Theater.

For Arkansas Girls

By: Adrianne Owings

Arkansas was listed as one of the worst states for gender equality and why I founded "For Arkansas Girls," a community-based Girl Up club that encourages girls across Arkansas to advocate for other girls to reach their own full potential.
