The "Essynce" of Entrepreneurship

Historically speaking, entrepreneurship is one of the most important ingredients for minorities, women and immigrants to create better lives for themselves. This is probably why minorities own 15% of all U.S. businesses, accounting for $591-billion in revenues.

Not only is 40.8% of the US population made up of racial and ethnic minorities, this group of people are also responsible for $3-trillion of America’s expenditures and consumption of goods.

With those facts in mind, isn’t it critical that schools teach entrepreneurship? After all, students from low-income families are six times more likely not to finish high school than those from high-income families.

Not having youth entrepreneurship education programs is a missed opportunity. That’s why I have developed Essynce Couture University -- a youth empowerment workshop which teaches new business venture skills.

I'm one of the lucky ones. I have a mom who believes in me and has empowered me to grow as a human being and entrepreneur.

My passion has been designing kids fashion lines since I was six years old. I buy my own fabric, send it off to a tailor to be sewn or assist my mentor with sewing, produce my own fashion shows and I’ve even had my designs showcased in both New York Fashion Week and Atlanta Kids Fashion Week!

I believe that “age is just a blanket covering what people are capable of.” What I mean by that is an age shouldn’t stop you from doing anything! There’s a gem hidden under the layers of expectations that we impose through labels. People my age are capable of anything and everything! All we need is to be given the tools to polish our skills.

I founded Essynce Couture University (ECU) to provide a place where age doesn’t matter. ECU is a program that hosts conferences and workshops that help empower and inspire children ages 5-17 by teaching entrepreneurship, and how to incorporate principals into their daily lives

My goal is to raise capital via grants, investors, sponsorships, and endorsements to enable me to teach other children, tweens, and teens how to also become entrepreneurs for FREE! After all, “entrepreneurship is one of the best gifts to give.”

In addition to all of that, each month I connect with my peers through "Ask Essynce" a 30-minute chat where young people can come online and talk about fashion, business and life. I am also passionate about acting and have landed some TV and movie roles. That kind of exposure only furthers my ability to have greater impact.

Finally, in 2015 I released new book, 6th Grade Middle School Chronicles which fairly describes the challenges of balancing school, friends, life -- and business!

  • Hi, I’m Essynce Moore and I started designing clothes at the age of 6. While my own passion has always been about creative clothing ideas, it has become more and more obvious to me that I have a responsibility -- to my peers and to my country -- to teach entrepreneurship and provide workshops so that young people between the ages of 5-and-17 have the opportunity to pursue their dreams.

My Theory Of Change

Feb. 6, 2016

My theory of change revolves around 4-pillars that youth need in order to fulfill their dreams:

One of the best ways to achieve the greatest education is to read and write!

One of the best ways to lead is to invite others to be part of your journey!

One of the best ways to develop your skills as an entrpreneur is to try new things! That's why I opened a store-front and a spa!

Integrity is paramount to success. Everything we do with Essynce Couture intertwines all of these ideologies! For example, part of our storefront and spa experiences reinforce the messaging of empowerment and self-esteem.

Of course, we also always encourage fun and friendship! And if you can't come to us, we might be able to come to you!
